How To Get The Most From Your Clothes

How To Get The Most From Your Clothes

While we do NOT recommend putting the items you purchase from us in the dryer, if you have to do so, we highly recommend that you do NOT opt for a drying cycle that's too hot. The best way to keep your clothes in top condition is a bit old school, yet nonetheless effective. Hang dry them. And, we know there’s nothing more disappointing than rain coming down on your clean laundry! If rain is expected in the afternoon, and that’s the only day you can hang laundry, then limit your efforts to a load or two and stay around the house to make sure you get them down in time. Collecting and separating your laundry the night before will get you off to a good start. Also, make sure that you have all of your supplies like detergent, softener, clothespins, and laundry basket. We like to keep an extra pack of clothespins around, just in case. The best strategy when hanging out clothes is to give them the biggest part of the day to dry. Starting early in the morning is best. With any luck, your laundry will be dry by mid-afternoon.

Also, hang your heaviest items out first, like towels and jeans. They will obviously benefit from the most time on the line. Hang your clothes by the lightest end, allowing the heavy end the most time and air circulation for the thicker fabric. Pants should be hung by the leg bottoms, t-shirts from the waist, etc. Other clothes like heavy jackets will benefit from drying on a hanger.

Once your clothes are dry, you can enjoy the glorious smell of fresh laundry as you fold.
